Monroe (Mun) Greene has been part of the SOMA/South Beach neighborhood for over 15 years. Not only does he offer a great shoeshine but also a smile, conversation and some great advice. If I could only get dogs to help crowd source,  the pooches in this neighborhood would raise the money we are looking for in a day. They rush to Mun for the treats and scratches he’s happy to give.  

While this is an ever changing neighborhood with new restaurants and companies setting up each day there is still a real sense of community.  I want to call on that community and the wonderful people who visit for the baseball games to help Mun in his next venture in life.  He has an opportunity to operate a shoeshine stand in one of the federal buildings in San Francisco. As part of this opportunity he needs to invest in a two-seater shoeshine stand, and that’s where I am asking folks to join with me in raising the funds required.

While I hate the thought of losing him from the corner of 2nd and Townsend, at 76 years of age,  he deserves the comfort of an internal workspace and a busy clientele. We are looking to raise $3,500 so that he can purchase a new shoe stand and the material required to run his business.
