Hello! My name is Natasha, and I am a Healthcare Support Worker in the Gynaecology unit at Aneurin Bevan University Health Board. Our unit is made up of an Emergency Gynae unit, an Early Pregnancy unit, and a 22-bed ward.

Currently, we have one protected bed available for couples who need care during the heartbreaking experience of losing their baby. Unfortunately, we lack a dedicated bereavement room where families can receive compassionate care while receiving difficult news or create precious memories with their little ones before saying goodbye.

To address this, we are working to raise funds to establish a safe, warm, and caring environment that allows us to deliver the highest level of compassionate care that grieving families truly deserve.

Next May, my team and I will be climbing Pen y Fan at sunrise, dressed in fancy costumes, to support this vital cause. Your contribution, no matter how big or small, would mean the world to us and will go a long way in helping those in need.

• More than one in five pregnancies ends in miscarriage – it is often quoted as one in four but there is no accurate data recorded.

• 1-2 in one hundred pregnancies are ectopic. This means the pregnancy is developing outside the womb – most often in one of the Fallopian tubes. This condition is potentially life-threatening for the mother and the pregnancy cannot survive.

• One in 600 pregnancies is a molar pregnancy. The pregnancy cannot survive and the woman needs specialist follow-up.
