Hi, my name is Kai - and I never imagined I'd be writing something like this.
My mom is everything to us. She's 43 years old - a devoted wife, a loving mother to me, Faith, and Psalmuel (ages 28, 17, and 6), and a proud grandma to Kaion and Kaileia (6 years and 2 months old). She is the heart of our family. Last January, she was diagnosed with ampullary cancer - a rare and aggressive form. By the time doctors found it, it was already Stage 3. Not long after, the cancer progressed to Stage 4, spreading more rapidly than we ever expected. Despite the pain, the treatments, and the emotional toll, she has continued to walk in faith, lead with kindness, and love us with every ounce of her strength.
Just days ago, we received news no family is ever prepared for. The doctors told us she has less than a year to live.
We are devastated.
My mom is our real-life superwoman - the one who holds it all together when the world feels like it’s falling apart. She shows up for everyone, even when she’s running on empty, and somehow still gives more. She has spent her life pouring into others, giving endlessly without ever expecting anything back. She’s the one who introduced faith into our home, who prays over every person she loves, and who reminds us that God’s will is greater than our understanding. Even now, in her most difficult season, she leans on Him. She trusts His plan. And she carries peace in her heart even when her body is weary.
She is our glue, our guide, and our greatest blessing. Her love is steady, selfless, and pure. She’s held us together through every storm… and now, in the hardest moment of her life, she’s the one who needs to be held.
We’re doing our best to stay strong, but the reality is, this journey has brought both emotional and financial challenges. My dad is working hard to provide for our family, but with only one income, it’s been difficult to keep up - especially with ongoing medical costs, household needs, and caring for my younger siblings. What’s most painful is that he can’t always be by her side during this time, because he has to continue working to keep things going at home.
This is why we’re asking for help.
Your support will help us:
- Bring my mom peace and comfort in her final months
- Help my dad take time off work to be with her
- Cover medical bills, medications, and transportation to appointments
- Provide basic necessities for our household and my younger siblings
- Ensure she can spend quality time with her children - without the burden of financial stress
- Begin preparing for the difficult reality of what comes next
We don’t know how much time we truly have left, but we want to make every day count. We want her to feel the same love she has so selflessly given to others for her entire life.
If you’re unable to give, we completely understand - your prayers, shares, and kind words mean just as much.
From the bottom of our hearts, thank you for reading, sharing, and standing with our family. We trust God’s plan, and we are holding on to faith, love, and each other.
“God is our refuge and strength, an ever-present help in trouble.”
— Psalm 46:1
May God bless you for your kindness, your prayers, and your support. We pray that the same love and grace you're showing our family comes back to you a hundredfold. May you and your loved ones always feel God’s presence, peace, and protection—through every season of life.
With love and gratitude,
Kai & Family
