Bringing a Legend Home: Help Us Welcome the A-10 Warthog to Tulsa

At the Tulsa Air and Space Museum, our mission is simple and powerful: Honoring the Past. Inspiring the Future.

Each year, more than 35,000 children walk through our doors—curious, wide-eyed, and full of potential. They come to discover what’s possible through science, technology, engineering, and math, and to learn about Oklahoma’s growing aerospace industry and the careers that shape it. Very soon, one extraordinary aircraft will stand at our entrance to ignite that spark like never before.

Meet 78-0591 — A Combat Veteran with a New Mission

The aircraft coming to Tulsa is A-10 Thunderbolt II tail number 78-0591—a true American warrior.

A combat veteran of Operation Desert Storm

For the past two decades, a training aircraft at Sheppard Air Force Base, where generations of airmen learned the critical skills of aircraft maintenance

A symbol of resilience, reliability, and American air superiority

She has served our nation with distinction. Now, she is ready for her final assignment—to educate, inspire, and stand proudly before the next generation.

A Beacon at the Front Door of Inspiration

When she arrives in Tulsa, 78-0591 will be placed at the entrance of the museum, where she will serve as:

A beacon of welcome and excitement for every visitor

A powerful, tangible lesson in engineering, teamwork, and service

A living classroom for students exploring aerospace, mechanics, and STEM career pathways

A visible tribute to the men and women who serve—and who maintain—the aircraft that defend our nation

She will be repainted and cared for like the proud veteran she is, preserved with honor and respect in her forever home.

By supporting this campaign, you are not just moving an aircraft—you are placing a symbol of courage, innovation, and service where thousands of children will see it every year and imagine themselves in the cockpit, the hangar, the lab, or the control room.

Please donate today to help bring A-10 Warthog 78-0591 home to Tulsa—where her story will continue to inspire generations.
