Hey there, we are raising money for our brother Joel and his important community work in Atlanta, Georgia. He recently got his car, which he is still paying on, 'fixed' and it broke down again two days later with the same issue...it needs a new hybrid battery which will cost FAR more than the car is worth.
Joel, in typical fashion for him, is choosing to see the positive side of this and using it to make a positive change. To explain, I'll tell you guys about Joel and the work he does. His 9-5 job is at a non-profit in Atlanta, Georgia where he manages a crucial food and aid pantry that distributes to those in need around the city.
Throughout the week and in all of his free time, he works on his own time in his community with around a dozen other young men and boys around his neighborhood. They work and volunteer at the pantry with him and learn valuable skills and make connections within the community. He uses his personal vehicle on the daily to not only pick up donations, but to drive these kids and young people to things like outdoor recreation spaces for biking, skateboarding, and other activities and job interviews. This is LITERALLY 24/7 and anyone that knows Joel, or of him, can vouch for that.
He is never able to take as many that would love to come on the recreational activities, much less fit all of their bicycles, scooters, skateboards. This is where the positive aspect of his car situation comes in, Joel has seen this as the perfect opportunity to finally realize his dream of getting a much-needed van.
Anyone who works with Joel on any given day has seen how he regularly packs his personal car, a hybrid Kia Optima, full of donations, supplies, and food...and I mean FULL. Getting a van for Joel would be a perfect way for him to haul these supplies AND be able to get the children he works without in the recreational spaces further out in the city on a daily basis. Many of the kids he works with LOVE activities like biking and skateboarding, but lack a safe environment for it away from traffic and busy intersections and areas that lack nearby parks. Joel and his vehicle are their one outlet to doing the things that they love and that every kid deserves access to.
If you're able to give, anything helps tremendously and goes a long way to helping Joel continue to make HUGE waves in his community. You can help make a difference! Thank you.
Every penny of your donations will go to Joel's van and his community. Thank you.
