A twin's journey: Honouring Cruize, Saving Nova-Leigh.
Donation protected
Hi everyone, my name is Shannon Weston.
I am the mother of a 19-year-old, named
Sierra Clarkson.
Here, (with permission of course) telling her story and looking for any help that could be available.
Sierra and her fiancée, Malachi Parker. Found out in February that they were expecting another bundle of joy!
Some time passed and as if the family wasn’t excited enough to be expecting another little one joining the family; imagine the excitement when we heard they were expecting FRATERNAL TWINS!
However, what we all thought was a dream come true, quickly turned into a nightmare.
After Sierra’s 20-week anatomy scan, she was told that there was some “irregularities” that needed to be looked at closer and was sent to maternity floor in Chatham Hospital.
After what felt like 20 nurses coming in and out of Sierras room giving her no information on what was happening, she was finally told the absolute bare minimum… “Twin B is small compared to Twin A.”
That information led to a referral to the children’s hospital in London, Ontario.
Sierra had been told to go home, not stress and wait for a call..
Almost a week had passed and Sierra hadn’t heard anything from London, and continued to wait.
On July 4th, 2025. Sierra was having some pretty painful cramping as well as a migraine and decided to return to Chatham Hospital to be checked out, hoping it was nothing.
After 2 ultrasounds, one bedside and one in diagnostic imaging it had been determined that Sierra and Malachi had tragically lost Baby B to placenta restriction and were diagnosed with IUGR (intrauterine growth restriction)
As you can imagine, the pain is unbelievable for the parents and family, and a void in our lives that words cannot explain.
Now, the parents face another challenge. Their surviving twin is now also showing signs of placenta restriction, but they are continuing to do everything in their power to give their baby the best chance at life.
Sierra has been sent to a high-risk OB in London, to continue monitoring her weekly to ensure their baby is doing as well as possible. However, this means constant trips back and forth to London from Chatham. Not to mention if things worsen, possible extended hospital stays and lots more testing/monitoring.
I am here asking for your support to help cover some of the costs and provide the best possible care for their baby.
Losing one of their babies has been such a devastating experience for them but this has kept them beyond determined to fight for their surviving twin.
Any support you can offer, whether it’s a donation or just sharing their story would mean the world to them and us as their family.
Thank you, from the bottom of all of our hearts. With love and hope, Shannon.
