Commit to The Ocean Cleanup
Main contact: Javier Antela
Goal: $5,000
It is a known fact that the human body can go for days without food, but only hours without water. Our oceans are the birthplace of all our fresh, potable, drinking water; beginning the cycle of feeding into lakes, rivers and streams, for our benefit, before returning to the sea and beginning the cycle anew. The earth is a living entity that dies and is born again continuously. Man’s carelessness over the decades threatens the earth by dumping pollution and toxicity into her waters; threatening the delicate balance of life. In the Yoruba faith of my ancestors, the ocean is the domain of Yemoja, an African deity that is said to be the mother of the world. From her primordial waters all life was birthed. As humanity begins to awaken and acknowledge the crime of neglect, The Ocean Cleanup is doing their part to ensure that a large number of heavily polluted waterways all over the globe are cleaned up before their pollutants can reach the ocean.

Support Epilepsy Foundation of America
Main contact: Tihirah Johnson
Goal: $5,000
I am a person that has been suffering from epilepsy my whole life. There is no cure for it at the moment just medications to try to help prevent them from happening so frequently. Although there are medications to help prevent epilepsy that works for some people many of the current medications out there have not worked for my body. Epilepsy causes seizures that can injure people who are having them and sometimes results in their deaths. It is a very scary condition and I along with millions of other people in the world live with it on a daily basis.

Connect Global Leaders to Their African Heritage
Main contact: Walla Elsheikh
Goal: $5,000
Birthright AFRICA is committed to providing a free educational trip to Africa for every youth and young adults of African descent ages 13 – 30 in the United States. Birthright AFRICA’s heritage-based leadership program inspires Scholars to draw pride, confidence, and creativity from exploration of their cultural roots and legacy of innovation in the U.S. and Africa. To date, 61 Scholars have received their life-changing birthright experience since the 2017 pilot program and traveled to Ghana and South Africa. Over 23,000 young people of African descent are registered as Birthright Scholars with access to virtual programs to explore their ancestral roots and legacy while we await to travel safely. Only 2% of US managers, leaders, and entrepreneurs are of African descent. To address this gap in diversity and talent in collaboration with our partners, Birthright AFRICA is creating the next generation of global leaders and entrepreneurs that are proud of their African heritage, confident in their innovative aspirations and connected to the African continent. After completing the program, 98% of Birthright Alumni say they have more resources, clarity, and belief in themselves to pursue their career and life goals. We are committed to ensuring the Birthright AFRICA experience is a part of our culture to transform the future of the diaspora for generations to come.
