Help us celebrate and uplift the Amalfitano family for the contributions they have made to our beautiful community.
Greetings fellow Freedom Fighters,
We are a group of local artists based in the San Fernando Valley, tying to help raise awareness and funds for the Amalfitano family that after six years of wonderful contributions to the City of San Fernando have heavily struggled with city leaders and unaffordable rent that has accumulated over $85,000 in debt and has left them to close up by the end of the year.
The Midnight Hour and Cry Baby Rodeo have been a safe haven for so many people in our community. Sergio Amalfitano and Alyssa Castro Amalfitano have given so much of their life’s work to better the city and give us a welcoming supportive space for music, art, community and creativity. We have come together to say thank you and help support them in any way we can for their future endeavors.
In the last six years that their businesses have been around, the Amalfitano family has:
- Organized fire relief efforts for Altadena in early 2025 from their own stores.
- Hosted numerous benefit shows and events to raise money for Pal*st*ne relief aid and Immigrants.
- Been outspoken about raising awareness of the ICE raids and raising funds to help affected families.
- Accumulated over $50,000 in benefit show donations.
- Created a local museum representing the SFV and its local families.
- Dedicated their last year to uplift up upcoming artists by lending us their space to create murals depicting our city's history and what makes San Fernando special to us.
- Supported education and educators, the building blocks of our community.
- Uplifted our LGBTQIA+ community with genuine ally-ship including efforts to host Pride themed events.
The Midnight Hour record store and Cry baby Rodeo have been staples in San Fernando known for their activism, workshops, events and shows that feature local bands. The Midnight Hour is much more than just a record store. It’s a social gathering space for local creatives, activists and music and cultural enthusiasts.
As artists we believe that we should all help uplift and support our local mom and pop shops. To preserve the things that help make our community special and unique. And that reflect how special we are in return.
