My name is Casey Fischer. Some people reading this already know who I am, others probably do not. I live with my family in Bloomington, MN. I am posting this GoFundMe in hopes of buying something very special for my precious daughter.
Some might ask why I wouldn't just pay for something like this on my own. I would gladly if I could afford it, but sometimes a really fantastic bargain on a very wonderful item comes up when you are least able to afford it. And in this case, it is not only the notion that the item is itself very special but the price tag on the item is ridiculously low. I have seen examples by this very maker that often sell for 8-10 times more than what this is priced.
What is it, might you ask? The short of it is it's a violin, made by a European master builder from the early mid part of the 20th century. I don't want to spill too many details on this instrument, but it's the kind of instrument that could carry a young player through college and beyond, whether it be playing for leisure or be it a serious career. This is an investment into the player, and an instrument like this can influence great things from a young individual.
Greta is smart, talented, artistic, and such a good, respectful young lady. People are always talking up their children, but Greta is just one of the best people you will ever meet. I think that any of her friends, teachers, and fellow Girl Scouts would say the same thing about her.
I want to put this into her hands and see her grow with it. I want to see her blossom with it and become the musician I never could be but always wanted to be. I partially chose this instrument due to its quality and expectations, but also I wouldn't think it would be appropriate to ask for something costing thousands of dollars for a student.
I will make this promise, that if at any point before graduating high school she decides to quit playing the violin, we will sell this instrument and donate the funds to one or more GoFundMe campaigns that encompass the same values and principles as this one does. That would be only fair. So I would promise to be its custodian, and her mother would take over that role should something happen to me. I would also make sure that it would be insured for its full appraised value as long as Greta lives under my roof and/or graduates from college.
I just can't think of someone more awesome in my life that I could make something like this possible for. And in you making this happen for us, we will also find some similar campaigns to donate to in the coming months and year.
Thanks for reading this and any support that you are able to offer. I am trying to keep this a surprise for now so Greta for sure won't know about it, and also to keep it under wraps from my wife Jen and son August. If you happen to know them, please keep it a secret for now. If you have any questions or concerns, please ask and I will help. If you want to know about the specific instrument and why I have chosen it, I would be glad to discuss that via PM, email, or even a phone call.
Peace be with you, hoping you have a great start to the new year and that everyone stays safe in these trying times.
Casey
