Yesterday, my grandad Alec lost everything when his business was destroyed in a fire. In a matter of moments, over 10 years of hard work, dedication and passion was gone. Inside were his phone, laptop, equipment, stock, inventory and countless things that helped keep his business running. He had to stand and watch everything he had built burn to the ground in front of his eyes.

What says everything about the kind of person he is, is that even now, after losing so much, his main concern is still how this will affect his family. As a family, we have all played a part in helping build Chickies Scotch Eggs into what it is today, but ultimately it has always been my grandad’s drive, determination and incredible attention to detail that made it so special. The award winning flavours, the recipes, the care he put into every product — all of that came from Alec.

For over a decade he has poured his heart and soul into this business, building something people travelled from all over to try. He even supplied large companies, which was a true reflection of just how loved and highly regarded his products were.

I know times are difficult for everyone, and asking for help is never easy, but I wanted to create this page in the hope that we can help ease some of the burden and support him as he starts the long process of rebuilding.
