A Safe Home for Strong Nicki

I met an amazing woman named Nicki that has more strength and resilience than most of us have in our little finger. After decades of being strong and learning, it is time for us to give her a hand.

Help me give Nicki a safe place to live. She deserves it.

Nicki's story below:

Hi, my name is Nicki. I am 52 and I live in my RV in a friend's driveway in Northeast mpls. I have for the past 3 yrs. The city has said I have to leave. The options I was given were to go to a shelter, or the parking lot the city has designated for people who live in their cars.
I posted a couple of weeks ago asking for building supplies, as my friend who let's me park here has offered his garage to let me build a room in. I have until June 15th to leave.

When I moved here, it was to get away from an abusive ex. I had also had a major suicide attempt a couple of weeks before. I lost my place that I had for 10 years in Robbinsdale due to not being able to afford it on my own. My ex was abusive and an addict who also refused to help me pay the rent there. His friend is the one who offered to let me park here. To keep me safe from him. He lost both of our vehicles due to his drug use and I ended up getting his old rv because I had no car and nowhere to live.

Since living here, I've gotten into therapy. I enrolled in full time school and am now in my junior year. I do door dash, I do PCA work and I just picked up another job as a brand ambassador. I am auntie to my friends kids. This man and his kids are family now. He even rented a room out of his house to my youngest child and their wife. I cannot say enough good things about my friend. He has offered the space, but he can't afford to build it for me. I've got letters out to my rep, and I plan to meet with City Council president Elliot Payne later today. Everywhere I have looked, there are no resources for my situation. So the option I have left is to ask strangers on the internet for help. I have people willing to build the space for free. I just need building supplies. If there were an appeals process, I would have many neighbors willing to speak on my behalf, but there is not.
