**Update: Thanks to all of you amazing souls, we are getting so close to our goal! We have been working on all the resources available to Parker to get things going in the direction forward!
Parker is doing well! If any one has questions about non-monetary assistance, please feel welcomed to reach out to myself, my parents, or David. Those two boys sure do love to eat, too!
If you’re not comfortable donating on this site, please reach out to me directly, as many have!
Again, we are so extremely grateful for all of your love and support!
Hi there! Before I start, we just want to say, “Thank You” for even taking the time to read our story. That alone means so much to all of us!
As many of you know, and many of you may not know, Parker King has Huntington’s Disease. He is a 34-year-old son, brother, uncle, cousin, and friend. HD is a rare genetic disease that is incurable and aggressive. It causes nerve cells in parts of the brain to gradually break down and die. The disease attacks areas of the brain that help to control voluntary (intentional) movement, as well as other areas.
Parker recently had an extensive stay at Mobile Infirmary due to an aspiration in his right lung, which resulted in a partial lobectomy. He also now has a PEG tube to assist with nutrition and medication.
As Parker’s disease progresses, his need for care greatly increases.
As you may know, we walked this heartbreaking journey with Parker’s mom, Lynne, and he held her hand all the way to the end.
Right now, Parker and David—who is also his primary caregiver—are living in a converted storage building. The space is cramped, with Parker’s father sleeping on the couch, and it lacks the comfort and safety they both need. Their current living situation makes it difficult to provide the level of care Parker needs, especially as he requires help with eating, showering, and daily activities.
What we need now is a comfortable, safe, and accessible place for Parker and his dad, David, to live. We are asking for any contributions, big or small, to assist us with getting them into housing close to family members who can offer the care, compassion, and daily support they need, as well as easy access for healthcare providers and special accessibility for his ongoing, progressive needs. He will require 24-hour care and daily assistance with every aspect of life.
Parker is one of the kindest souls. His father, my Uncle David, is doing everything humanly possible to provide the best care for his son. This is a very difficult time for all of us. We are humbly asking for your support, prayers, and love.
A safe, accessible space will allow Parker to receive the care he deserves and give his father, David, a place to rest and continue supporting his son. Your support will help provide them with stability, dignity, and a better quality of life.
