This fundraiser is for Carlos and his family. Carlos came to us last year after a gun was pulled on him at school in his elementary class. He was afraid to return to school. Ms. Skyler took Carlos under her wing at Sonny James Christian Academy. A few months later, we discovered his family was not safe where they lived and came to live at Sonny James Ranch.

Carlos was a little behind in school; however, he was thriving due to Ms. Skyler and the other teachers pouring into him. Carlos's smile, singing, and Michael Jackson moves have filled the barn with enthusiasm and joy. Carlos and his brother, Oscar, have begun helping and working around the ranch to give back for what brought them joy and safety: life at the ranch.

We hope this fund will help them afford the move to permanent safe housing and continued family growth and joy.

Carlos's grandma, whom they call Mom, is the one raising him, his brother, and his sister. Here on the ranch, they live in a very small space with bunk beds. It was only supposed to be temporary, but then Mom broke her foot at work, and what was supposed to heal quickly took months and months, so moving just was not possible for them.

In these months, the kids started attending Parker County Cowboy Church on Wednesdays with all the other Sonny James kids to learn and grow in their relationship with Christ. It is here that Carlos accepted Christ and was recently baptized. They attend Sundays as a family when they are not working. The kids all got to attend church camp, and they had never been to anything like that and were so excited to be a part of the camp Youth Pastor Josh put together. We are still working with his brother Oscar on building his relationship with Christ, but moving in a whole new light.

The best part of this story is Mom is doing better, and it is time for them to have a house to live as a family. God is so good and has opened that opportunity through a really amazing friend, and we were able to find them a house just down the road from the ranch and a safe school for them to attend. The house is nothing special, but to them it is everything. They are so excited to have a safe place to live.

We have been so blessed with furniture to fill their house, and now I have created this GoFundMe to raise money to help them get started with their first month's bills, school items they need, and food to fill their pantry. This is life-changing for their family, and any dollar amount would be a blessing.
