Together for Rebecca-A voice against a cancer almost unknown

Donation protected

My sister Rebecca has been diagnosed with an extremely rare cancer — sebaceous carcinoma of the esophagus. This cancer is so rare that only a few cases have ever been recorded worldwide, leaving doctors with very little or to no research.

Because of its severity, Rebecca can no longer eat or drink normally and is now being fed through a tube in her stomach. She lives in constant pain and extreme exhaustion and is unable to work. Her treatment starts in December, when she will undergo 5–6 weeks of chemoradiation, hoping to give her the best possible chance in this fight.

Rebecca has always been the warm, caring person who shows up for everyone else — now it’s our turn to show up for her.

We will be completing this following challenge to raise awareness and funds

Climbing “Mount Everest” for Rebecca

A team of 6 of us are taking on a 48-hour endurance challenge: Saturday 20th & Sunday 21st December in Oxigen HQ gym Tralee

We will climb the height of Mount Everest (8,848 meters — over 52,000 steps) on a stepper machine, continuously, for 48 hours straight.

6 people rotating every 40 minutes

You can also come along and contribute to the challenge by adding your own effort — whether that’s your on the rower, the bike, or the ski-erd which will be tracked by calories to a total of 8848 calories which is the height over everest. Every bit of movement adds to the collective strength we’re building for Rebecca, and every contribution helps.

No breaks — the stepper keeps moving for the full 48 hours

Every step represents the uphill battle Rebecca is fighting. Every rotation symbolizes the support she deserves.

We’ll be sharing updates throughout the challenge, their will be music, food, teas and coffees to keep the energy high and the awareness growing

How You Can help

Every share or donation spreads awareness of this incredibly rare cancer and helps ease the pressure on Rebecca as she prepares for a difficult christmas.

From the bottom of our hearts, thank you for standing with our family, supporting the challenge, and giving Rebecca the strength she needs during this heartbreaking and uncertain time.
