Hi, I’m Esther Masís, and I want to share a very special story with you—my mother’s story.
My mom, Milagro Narváez, faced a tough challenge early in life: just days after she was born, she contracted polio, which severely affected her legs and spine. As a child, she went through several surgeries to stretch her legs and back, but the strength in her legs never returned. Since then, she has lived her entire life in a wheelchair.
Despite everything, Milagro has always been active, determined, and fiercely independent. She learned to drive, built a life on her own terms, and has never let her disability define her. But today, age is bringing new challenges—for both her and my dad, who is also growing older.
My dad used to help her lift the wheelchair into their van, but he can no longer do it, and my mom isn’t physically able to either. That’s why we need your help to install a ramp in her Hyundai Grand Starex 2016—so she can get in and out of the van on her own, without having to depend on anyone else.
This isn’t about luxury. It’s about preserving her autonomy, dignity, and way of life. This ramp would allow her to keep driving, go out independently, stay active, and continue being the strong woman she’s always been.
The cost of this adaptation is high, but we believe in the power of community. If you can donate or share this cause, you’ll be helping Milagro regain the freedom she’s worked so hard to maintain.
From the bottom of my heart—thank you for your support.
With love,
Esther
