A Promise Fulfilled- the Clays’ Adoption Journey Begins

Donation protected
When we began our fertility journey, Brandon had to consistently remind me that we would be parents and that adoption was always an option. We believe that even though our journey to parenthood has been delayed, God is working out a plan better than we could ever have imagined.

Brandon and I were married on June 24, 2016. On October 31, 2016, Brandon was diagnosed with stage 4 lymphoma. Needless to say, we tested the “in sickness and in health” part of our vows very early in our marriage. Brandon continued to work and go to school full-time during his rigorous chemotherapy treatment. And by the grace of God, Brandon has been completely healed and cancer-free since May of 2017.

I was diagnosed with Crohn’s disease when I was 5 years old. Multiple abdominal surgeries and a body full of inflammation due to this childhood illness led to stage 4 endometriosis that was diagnosed in July of 2022. This particular surgery required the removal of my fallopian tubes, eight fibroids, repositioning of my ovaries, and the removal of an abundance of scar tissue that had adhered all of my abdominal organs together into one giant mass.

To take a step closer to parenthood, we adopted three embryos. Our first transfer in March of 2024 resulted in a loss at 7 weeks. The following two also resulted in subsequent losses.

We are still excited and hopeful to expand our family. It has been a blessing to be surrounded by countless loving family and friends who have been cheering us on throughout this entire journey.
