Would you like to see a positive and sober vision of the future on TV? Would you like to see everyday heroes and anti-heroes stumbling through the challenges of being a parent in a chaotic world, and finding—against all odds—a way to live up to their values?

The current campaign is to get enough money to incorporate an LLC and be able to take donations. But I’m also using it as an opportunity to invite everyone to participate – in creating our future, in visualizing a positive and sober (solvent) world for our children, and for people we will never meet.

Below is a letter from one of the characters in the TV show, writing to you from the future. She’s asking us to spend time talking with our friends—but if you don’t have time to do that, and can just forward this to someone, maybe you can talk about the subject when you see your friends next.

The pilot budget is set for 19,000, and a kickstarter can begin as soon as the LLC is registered. The codirectors have signed on and casting will begin in late February. The pitch deck is completed, thanks to some help, and I will share the link privately with any supporters of the gofundme.

Hello 2025,

This is Sage Vasquez, writing to you from the future.

I feel a tremendous love for all of you.

This is a fundraising request, but there’s so much more I want to say to you than just “please contribute your money.“

The most important thing is this: connect. To other people around you. I know that might sound silly, or really overwhelming, but even just in a tiny, tiny way, even if it’s just giving someone a smile—-or not even a smile. Just looking at them for a moment as you pass by, maybe letting your sadness be seen. Seeing their sadness.

That’s what this project is all for. If the TV show about my life gets funded but people don’t connect, this project has failed.

The mission has five components: forming families with old people, with younger people, with fellow adults of childbearing age, with other people who have a kid; and then #5 is a mainstream family TV show with a vision of hope: a positive future that is also realistic.

Writing to you from the future, I can say with certainty that a good outcome is possible. From here, it looks easy, natural, and people tend to think that it had to happen.

But it is not inevitable. It is one of many possible futures. ***You have the sacred power to make my reality come true***—or to choose for me not to have the happy life I have—maybe even for me not to survive.

But I’m not saying this as a victim or anything, you owe me nothing! I can take care of myself.

What I want you to focus on is you.

What is it that you want to create?

Not what you logically or frequently think is the best a limited world can yield—what you want in your bones.

I want you to start with want—and if your next thought is, “Well this is hopium, this is wishful thinking,“ consider this: if you are inclined sometimes to lie to yourself, why? What is the need that’s not being met? Have some compassion for that part of you that wants to lie. I do. I get it.

When we look back on the Boring 20s (as we VERY ironically call them, and I want you to be sure to understand that this is a joke name!!), we’re simply amazed. How the **** did you make it through? How did you get through the day, let alone through that whole decade?

Things are better now. The 30s was pretty rough too, but it was encouraging: we kept seeing things get better. The point is, the YOU that wants to dream big also wants to be realistic.

You are adults. You are mature.

In fact, that’s why everything‘s falling apart, it’s not because you’re not ready to be responsible stewards of the Earth, it’s because you’ve been ready to be for a long time now, and you haven’t been letting yourselves be! What I’m trying to say is, believe in yourself more. Please.

I’m asking you to put in a dollar for the show. The records of how the thing got funded are pretty hazy. It’s not a head thing, it’s a heart thing. If enough people put in a dollar, and we get to the first goal of 700, then the guy who’s receiving this message can get started and begin to fundraise for the next goal. 700 will cover incorporating and then there can be a place to put the money. The next goal after that will be $12,000 for an indy fundraising manager, and then $200,000 to shoot the pilot. This is so that the actors can get paid union rates, the crew can get paid for their time, and corners don’t need to be cut on sustainability.

It’s much better if 700 people put in a dollar each, than if one person just foots the bill. And even better if there’s a real kinship built and nurtured along the way.

So please put in one dollar, and no more than five, and then text four friends and ask them each to read this letter and do the same. And take the opportunity again to tell them what they mean to your life.

Now gofundme won’t accept $1 contributions we’ve learned, so all pioneer donors had to contact 4 friends and ask them to Venmo a dollar and get then put in 5. I know this is a pain, but do it. It’s more fun than this way. It’s more chances to talk to your friends and loved ones. We need to change our thinking, you in the twenties and us now, all of us.

Why do this now when everything else is so much more urgent? Because you love me, because I’m your kid just as much as anyone else is. Because you need this—connectedness. Take five minutes now to reach out to your friends. I’m going to do it too! We’ll find a sequel or something—no one even uses money much anymore, but I’m not going to get into that now.
