A Playground for Life!

Our Vision is...
An Anson County where homelessness does not exist.

Our Mission is...
To provide housing to our homeless residents through transitional, affordable, emergency, and rapid rehousing programs. We will also empower them with life skills and financial literacy to be successful members of society as we work with like-minded agencies and partners to improve, educate, and unify our community.

We organized Anson County Homes of Hope (ACHOH) in 2017 and got our 501 (c) (3) status on 22 March 2018. A group of concerned community leaders from diverse backgrounds began to meet at Calvary Episcopal Church in Wadesboro, NC, to address how we could assist our homeless population. What became clear was that Anson County is a unique community with few resources to help our homeless residents—the lack of a low-barrier shelter and the low inventory of affordable housing compounds the situation. Anson County remains a Tier One county in which poverty is rampant. COVID-19 has certainly caused further devastation. As we work to rebound from the pandemic, we continue to build community partnerships that allow us to assess other needs in the community. One emerging need is addressing our population's health and creating spaces that promote vibrant and healthy lifestyles while bringing neighbors together to build unity in our community.

We need your help to change lives! Please help us by donating generously to this current project, which will provide a playground, community garden, and green space, a much-needed amenity.

We live in a food desert, which riddles our community with health issues like hypertension, addiction, obesity, and less-than-average life spans. We want to provide a space where families and individuals can come together, grow food, enjoy the outdoors, exercise, and get to know one another.

We have the perfect space, literally in our own backyard!

On 30 March 2023, ACHOH acquired 303 East View Street in Wadesboro. After carving out two two-bedroom apartments for our affordable housing program upstairs and locating our offices and education room downstairs, we need to make the reclaimed and formerly overgrown backyard alive and thriving. By adding the features above, we will contribute to reducing health issues affecting our community.

Your donation will go towards purchasing a playset that will be the first of its kind in our community. It will include slides, swings, rope, and rock climbing features and be padded with a state-of-the-art rubber landing.
