A Plaque for Eddie Porter at Strawberry Field
Donation protected
As you will know by now, Eddie Porter passed away last month.
Eddie was a hugely important part of The Beatles legacy in Liverpool.
He started out at Cavern Mecca chatting to fans, and then helping them find their way around The Beatles haunts. He then began taking tourists out himself through Cavern City Tours, and mentoring other guides when they were starting out. He was generous with his time and knowledge - which was typical of Eddies's nature.
Following with discussions between Richard Porter, Jackie Spencer, and Cavern Mecca, to commemorate his long standing work in the Beatles tourist industry, we thought it would be fitting to have a commemorative engraved stone to Eddie at Strawberry Field, a place he visited thousands of times. It would be a permanent reminder of Eddie and the impact on those who knew him.
If we raise more money than is needed, any left over will go towards a similiar stone for Liz and Jim Hughes, who founded Cavern Mecca, and were the catalysts for The Beatles' industry in Liverpool now.
Then any extra funds will go to Cavern Mecca's designated charity for this year - which is Chrons and Colitus UK.
Please help us commemorate these wonderful people who brought people from around the world to celebrate The Beatles in their home city.
