Gather in Hawaii! Help build our Yoga Shala!

Hello & Aloha, my name is Robin. Originally from San Francisco, I now live in the jungle along the wild and profound coast of Puna, Big Island, Hawaii. In 2020 I followed an intuitive hit that brought me to this Majestic Island. Thinking the call would be a short stay to rest and recalibrate, it was an invitation to shift my life completely. It took every resource, ounce of courage and tenacity to see it through. Living out of my suitcase for a year proved quite the challenge with quite the reward. I'm so glad I didn't give up.

Why I now need you! There is space to build a Yoga Shala - a gathering space for practice, celebration & ceremony. See the above photo. I have the vision; now, I need help with the funds! There is a 30x30-foot platform that needs to be rebuilt and expanded upon. The jungle elements are unforgiving, so I've been researching the best materials and designs for this environment. We are now ready! The money collected will be to pay for materials, shipping, tools, labor & unforeseen expenditures. Any additional money will go to the construction of the farm. There is a 4oo square foot plot of land ready to be turned into a vegetable and flower garden making Kūaloli 100% self-sustaining!

  • Time Frame/Goal: Winter season to gather funds; the aim is to get the structure up and running by Spring 2023!

On Aug 24, 2021, I became the owner and caretaker of Kūaloli, an off-grid, three-acre property I am bringing to life as a healing retreat center; a gathering space for those who seek health, healing, beauty, joy, rest & relaxation. Running as a retreat & lodging center, Kūaloli is the Hawaiian word for metamorphosis. And, let me tell you, going from decades of 900 square feet to caring for three acres of jungle has been quite the evolution! Sidenote: At the start of this, I had to google an acre!

Across from the ocean, the grounds of Kūaloli (koo-ah-low-lee) feel part Botanical Garden, part Sanctuary. Kūaloli is beautifully designed to highlight the nature specific to this part of the island. There are abundant fruit trees; coconut, banana, papaya, lilikoi, ulu, guava, cashew, noni, cacao & more, with three vibrant butterfly habitats and three lotus ponds. This past year I've learned how to chainsaw, weed wack, rake, harvest bananas, weed, prune and tend this beautiful & lush property. It's been a joy & an honor. In Hawaiian, the word is Malama, caretaker.

We've grown to accommodate up to 13 overnight guests, and we have had the pleasure of hosting our first retreat in July 2022. For the past seven months, we've been able to host travelers from all over the globe while many friends, family, students, guests & visitors have stopped by to receive the mana.

It's now time to expand.
