My partner Cindy and I, along with our dog Winnie, are asking for help after losing our apartment about two months ago when I was laid off and our rent went up. Cindy is disabled, and Winnie is our two-year-old miniature schnauzer. Right now, our most urgent need is to get off the street and find a safe room or small apartment where the three of us can stay together while we work toward more permanent housing.

Cindy has also been dealing with serious health issues. Cindy spent 17 days in the hospital, came out, and then had to return. As of October 7, Cindy is hospitalized with COVID. Because dogs are not allowed to stay at the shelter, I sleep outside with Winnie. I carry her pillow and blankets to keep her warm and comfortable. We do not have a car, so housing with access to public transportation would make a real difference as I keep looking for work and try to hold us together.

Funds would help cover temporary accommodation, housing costs, and basic necessities while we get back on our feet. A low-cost Airbnb or another safe temporary place to stay would help immediately, especially for the next month or two while we look for something more stable. We appreciate offers to foster Winnie, but our goal is to keep our family together.

Kind people recently helped us replace a phone and get internet access after our phones were stolen, which means we can stay connected again.
