I never imagined that one day I would have to ask strangers for help just to keep my family safe and give them a chance to survive.

My name is AbdalFatah Sami, a Palestinian from Gaza. Today I am asking for your support so my family and I can rebuild our lives after losing everything in the war.

Our home — the place that held all our memories and dreams — was completely destroyed. I will never forget the moment my mother stood in front of the ruins of our house and cried. In that moment, we realized that everything we had built in our lives was gone.

After more than 180 days of fear, bombing, and displacement, my family and I finally managed to leave Gaza and reach Egypt in search of safety. But escaping the war came at a very high cost. I had to borrow a large amount of money just to protect my family and help us survive.

What is truly heartbreaking is that in Gaza, there are two sisters and their children who are unable to leave because of the closure and destruction of the crossing.

Today we are starting from nothing in Egypt. Because Palestinians like us cannot easily obtain residency, I have not been able to find stable work. At the same time, the cost of rent, food, clothing, and basic needs continues to rise, and the pressure of debt grows heavier every day.

I am the only person responsible for supporting my family. My wife Assel is only 20 years old and dreams of continuing her education, but the tuition fees are far beyond what we can afford right now. My parents also live with me, and my mother suffers from diabetes and needs medication every month.

In addition, my brother’s young children live with us. They are still very small and should be in kindergarten and continuing their education, but our financial situation does not allow us to provide this for them.

It breaks my heart to see my family struggling while I feel powerless to give them the stable life they deserve. I cannot return to Gaza because our home and livelihood are gone, and at the same time I am struggling to survive in Egypt without work or legal stability.

This is why I am asking for your help. Your support will help me repay the debts I was forced to take, cover basic living expenses, support my mother’s medical needs, help the children continue their education, and hopefully start a small project so I can support my family with dignity.

We lost our home, but we have not lost our will to live and rebuild our future. Every small donation brings us one step closer to stability and hope.
