A NEW WAVE
Donation protected
Hey everyone (:
My name is Joselyn, and three years ago, I opened up a little spot called Wave Studio Space.
Many things have happened since then, and as I am growing as a person, so have my intentions and goals for my studio.
** if you want to skip down to what we would be utilizing donated funds for, please head down to after the solid line!
but if you'd like to learn more about the cause, read ahead **
As it started off as a studio solely for dance, I knew in my heart that it was meant to hold space for other art forms and a deeper purpose, so it became that. It became a place for artists to create freely, and come as they are; and because "WAVE" is a more intimate space, I loved that people could truly connect every time the studio was live.
The first two years were the most entertaining and exhausting runs of trial and error as a brand new business owner. I tried my absolute best to cope with a new world, fresh out of the pandemic, and if I'm going to be honest I had no idea what I was getting myself into. That time felt so fragile, yet so chaotic at the same time; and as I opened my doors, it has been an emotional rollercoaster to see what has flowed and what hasn't.
Life took many unexpected turns last year, and unfortunately as my personal life began to spiral, my heart and soul took a hard hit. As humans, we are learning now, that we only have the capacity for so much. It took every ounce of energy in me to work through the days that I didn't want to be here. I was very close to giving up on all of it. I felt numb and unable to create, and I had definitely hit my version of rock bottom.
But beyond all of that, deep deep down, I knew I had it in me to keep working hard for what I believe in.
With tons of prayer and support from my family and friends, day by day I began to pull myself out of the trenches. And when I say day by day, I mean to the present as you are reading this, it is a work in progress.
Along this journey, I have found so much clarity in what WAVE is meant to be.
My purpose on this earth is to create connection: to cultivate community.
COMMUNITY: A FEELING OF FELLOWSHIP WITH OTHERS, AS A RESULT OF SHARING COMMON ATTITUDES, INTERESTS, AND GOALS.
I want other young professionals and people of all ages to be able to express their art forms alongside their careers, and I want to highlight the talent of people we know in our socal neighborhoods.
I want to create financially accessible opportunities for others who want to create;
And I want to provide a space that nurtures the mind, body, and soul through art, writing, and music.
How cool would we be to bridge the gaps between generations, so that we can contribute to a stronger and connected collective?
Most importantly, we need to create more art spaces for the little ones: Art spaces that allow them to grow in respect for themselves and the community -- spaces that encourage them and us to enjoy the movement and the music.
I want to get us all back to living in the moment.

MORE ABOUT A NEW WAVE NON PROFIT INITIATIVE
Our goal is to offer workshops in art, wellness, and music at an accessible price to the members of our community.
With the help of this non profit, we aim to compensate our educators at their own set pay rates for sharing their knowledge.
A New Wave would work hand in had with the creation of a youth program in dance and music, aiming our focus to a performance based curriculum, rather than competition. We strive to create opportunities for the younger generation, free from judgment and geared towards recreation and inspiration.
