Justice for the Nip - Support Michi
Donation protected
The Nip and Tipple Bar in Whalley Range (the ‘Nip’ to regulars) has for the last fifteen years provided great food and drink for its diverse community. The owner of the bar, Michi, has created an inclusive and welcoming space for all walks of life, where people feel they truly belong.
On a typical Friday night at the Nip you’ll find families getting together for food, seasoned regulars, and dog walkers popping in for a pint and a chat. Michi has also created a safe space for the LGBTQ+ community. She has poured her heart into the Nip with love and a deep affection for all of us. She knows everyone by name and greets us all with a friendly smile and fabulous service.
Over the years Michi has laid on lots of great events - regular live music, Eurovision parties, football screenings, fancy dress, craft fairs - all with good food along the way: ‘The best pizza in town’! She has always donated money raised from events to animal charities, Water Aid and LGBTQ+ charities.
Now the hard part. Michi's proposed sale of the business fell through and she is not able to renew the lease in the long term. She faces a massive bill of repairs and legal fees, rent and loan pressure... the expense is overwhelming and she is struggling.
" If the Nip has ever been part of your story - a pint, a laugh, a safe place - I am asking for your support. Every donation helps me stay on my feet literally and keep me going through this storm" Michi
We can give back something to Michi, who has kept this safe space for us over the last fifteen years, so she has some prospect of covering costs.
Any money raised will go towards legal costs, solicitors fees, surveyors fees and contractual repair costs.
We need to raise approximately £12,000 in order to do this. Please help with whatever you can give.
