Please help Brenda to build a home for her orphans

Donation protected
Our campaign continues!

Thanks to you, our dear supporters, the many small and large donations and our regular donors, we are closer to our goal than ever before! Through a private fundraising appeal, I was able to buy a plot of land for Brenda and her non-profit organisation Bamunanika Childen's Home in February 2022. With this Gofundme campaign, we were then able to enable Brenda to build a new orphanage for her 24 orphans on this plot of land. The construction work is progressing very well and piece by piece the new home that the children so desperately need is being built. But not only a safe roof over their heads and a plot of land to grow food are essential for survival in Uganda - most important is the education of the children to give them a chance for a better life. As a social worker, Brenda also works as a teacher in her community and is therefore planning to extend the house with several classrooms. In the near future, the children of her orphanage and many other street children of the community can be taught here. We ask you so much for your support to make this project a reality. Only with further regular donations can we buy building materials and continue.

I regularly share news, photos and updates on the progress of the construction site with you here and I am very happy about your kind words of support and your willingness to donate. We don't know what we would do without you. Thank you so much! God bless you abundantly.

How it all began

Hello, this is Mandy from Germany, I have been supporting charitable projects for many years. Since 2021, I have chosen a group of 24 orphans from Bamunanika, a village in Mityana District, Uganda.

The Bamunanika Children's Home was founded by sister Brenda Nalyazi. Brenda currently cares for 24 orphans in a small hut in a village where there are not even street names. There is a lack of everything. Especially clean drinking water. The HIV rate is particularly high in Uganda, and most of the orphans have lost their parents to the virus. Many volunteer social workers like Brenda, herself a former orphan, take care of the children in small groups and they are completely dependent on donations to provide them with food and education. Brenda's orphans are still very young, between 1 and 11 years old, and it is particularly dangerous for girls on the streets. All the children are looked after and taught in the school or a small kindergarten during the day.

I provide Brenda and the children every month with school fees and school materials, rental costs for the current hut, food, water, clothes, firewood and hygiene articles. I was also able to support them in setting up their own website for their social project. A direct exchange with photos, videos and heartwarming conversations lets me participate in everything. I find out first-hand what is needed and what is bought with my donation. It is unbelievably beautiful how happy a pair of flip-flops can make. Brenda can buy the most necessary things in the local shops. Clean drinking water can only be bought in jerry cans in the village.

Collecting donations for living expenses is a huge effort for people like Brenda in Uganda, besides her social commitment and besides taking care and feeding the orphans and street children. Therefore, the biggest goal of each group is to be self-sufficient through farming on their own piece of land. For this purpose, I started an appeal for donations among close friends and acquaintances via WhatsApp in January 2022 and we made it.
Thanks to the willingness to donate, Brenda was able to buy a wonderful, fertile piece of land in Ssebbobbo, a neighbouring village near Busunju, in February 2022. The purchase contract has already been officially signed and notarised. There is clean water from a well close to the property and Brenda and the children can now start growing their own staple food. Fortunately, Uganda is a very fertile country and everything that is needed to survive grows here, from potatoes to sugar cane, mangoes, bananas and much more.

Brenda and the children must now move as quickly as possible from their broken and much too small hut in Bamunanika to the new property in Ssebbobbo, but for this a new house must be built here. Until now, all 24 children sleep in one room, there is neither a kitchen nor a toilet, the roof leaks and the conditions are catastrophic. To enable her and the children to move, I ask you to support me here. Please help with a donation and join me in creating a happier, healthier and safer future for Brenda's children. I will be happy to keep you updated here.
