This fundraiser is for our good friend Alex Salvaggio and his mother Janet, to assist with some of the costs of moving and furnishing a new ADA friendly home.
If anyone in this life knows twists and turns it’s Alex, and life has thrown a few more his way. Because of personal family circumstances, Alex’s father and brother will be moving out of state, and his mother Janet will be caring for him full time in a wonderful home she recently purchased in Merrick, NY.
As we all know, buying a home and moving is no small (nor cheap) task. Especially with all of the required provisions that need to be put in place for Alex to lead a comfortable and happy life, the costs add up rather quickly.
Recently in a conversation with Janet discussing the cost of new blinds, we made eye contact. While her eyes said, “I don’t know how I am going to afford this”, her mouth said, “that’s what credit cards are for, my son needs a better life.” That is simply who she is, she always puts her son first.
Janet is one of the kindest, most enduring people I have ever met. She has absolutely no clue we are doing this, and I am certain she will be infinitely grateful.
While we have set the goal for this fundraiser to be $5000 (since been updated to $10,000 because of the phenomenal support), the truth is that barely pays for the ADA ramp that will allow him to get into the house in his wheelchair...
We have all grown up along side Alex, and we have all been a part of his journey through his accident and the years since. Please help us set him up for his next journey in what could be his forever home with his wonderful mother.
