This year has been hard on everyone. The kids of our community have gone through emotions that they should never have to even consider surfacing in their young lives. So many changes are going to be in place for next year, even more so than now. That’s if and when we are able to load those buses up with kiddos and return to schools. There will be lots of adapting we will all have to do. Journey ups mission has always been to provide basic necessities to its communities children and youth that would otherwise go without. We had to bypass many fundraisers and gatherings to keep our precious cargo safe. As a program we’ve lost so much but if we think about it, as a family, we’ve gained so much more. We’ve added to learn patience, and understanding. Those are big things for our youth. We’ve had to go without sports, social activities and generally just seeing those we care about or enjoy being around.
Our inventory of food, hygiene, emergency warmth, school supplies (that we still hand out) and the “normal” joy we are used to handing out each week has greatly depleted or expired. Our shelves are bare. We have a new year approaching, with new promises and new hope. Please help us to continue our mission of taking the stresses of the adult world out of the equation for our city’s youth. Everything counts. We are in need of purchasing immediately new food items and disposable bags to distribute them in. We are in urgent need of hats, coats, gloves, blankets and chapstick. Hand sanitizeris a must for us and we are running low. We are making weekly drops and will continue to do so as long as we can. Thank you for continuingto support our future leaders.
