A New Home for Charmaine!
Hey Y’all. My name is Kesha Bruce. (IG:@keshabruce) I’m launching this fundraising campaign to help out my dear Sister-Friend Charmaine--- a Detroit native, a gifted researcher, professional archivist and librarian who uses her talent in the field of African -American genealogical research to help our community learn about the beauty and complexity of it’s true history and in many ways—to help us find our way home.
I’m hoping you’ll help me raise enough funds to get Charmaine into her own new home.
Charmaine is one of the kindest, most gentle, honest, and sincere spirits I’ve ever met. So I was thrilled to hear she’d finally been offered a new job in a school system a few hours away after surviving a horribly toxic work culture made even more dire during the pandemic.
Unfortunately, we all know how expensive something as simple as moving to a new city can be—especially as so many of us Black women don’t have access to the “extra” financial resources to make a seamless transition to a new location.
To complicate matters, Charmaine has become one of only two care-takers for a dear friend in hospice with stage 4 cancer.
Charmaine needs about $3000 to get to safe and settled in her new home:
$2000 - First + Last Month’s Apartment Deposit (Needed immediately)
$800- Moving company & expenses (Needed by August 29th)
$200 – 1 month car Insurance (Needed by first week of September)
Thank you for any amount you can contribute to my Sister-Friend, Charmaine!
