A Mother's Plea for Her Son's Well-Being

Hi, my name is DeShawn and I've asked my mom to type for me as I am unable to.

I'm 24 y/o but I don’t get to enjoy adulthood yet due to a traumatic brain injury I suffered when I was just 12 years old. My whole life changed and I would never be the same - though I’m still super loving! My mom has tried to do everything to help me but still it has been a struggle for me to receive the life-saving care I need.

The TBI has left me with a host of intellectual and mental health challenges in a world where help for these things are hard to get. With your donation I get closer to my goal of getting the medical and rehabilitative help I need and this will allow me to move in to group home where I can have opportunities to learn to read and write and get a job one day - to be in a position to help other's in need like me one day too!

I cannot tell you how much my family cries and prays that I will be able to get the help to have a better quality of life and be somewhere safe and knowledgeable.

At this time, my insurance has run out and my new insurance and other benefits will take some time to be approved until then it’s just caring people like you who can help me out.

I'm aiming to raise $5,500, which will help to meet the initial costs for a safe facility to address my needs. I've been misunderstood a lot and that is why my getting into a safe facility is really critical to help to save my life.
