A Mother’s Fight for Justice, Stability, and Her Children’s
Donation protected
I’m a mother of two young children one of whom has autism fighting to rebuild our lives after surviving years of emotional, financial, and psychological abuse from my former partner. After everything we’ve endured, he is now suing me for child and spousal support, despite having abandoned his responsibilities as a father.
I came to Canada as a student, full of hope and dreams for a better life. I entered a relationship I believed was rooted in love and trust, but it quickly turned into a cycle of manipulation, control, and neglect. I worked part-time, paid rent and childcare on my own, and even took out loans just to keep us afloat. Still, we were evicted multiple times because he failed to pay bills behind my back. He had full access to my bank account and would withdraw money without my consent. If I worked fewer hours, he accused me of neglecting our children but when I worked more, he claimed I wasn’t contributing enough to our home.
When I was nine months pregnant with our second child, he kicked me out of our home. I gave birth under immense emotional and physical stress, covering the entire hospital bill on my own without health insurance, while working part-time. After a brief attempt at reconciliation, he abandoned us again, leaving me homeless with a newborn and a toddler with special needs.
Today, I’m working seven days a week, and it’s still not enough. I’m doing everything I can to provide for my children, but I simply cannot afford the therapy and educational support my autistic son desperately needs. And now, my former partner who has refused to support or even be present for his children is taking me to court, demanding that I pay him child and spousal support.
Despite everything, I have never denied him access to the children. I have tried to do what’s right, even when it broke me. But now, I urgently need help.
Due to financial hardship and lack of support, my children are currently in Nigeria staying with my sister, where they’ve had temporary safety and care. However, the court has now ordered that I bring them back to Canada immediately. I am running out of time. I need to raise nearly $4,000 for international flights and travel expenses to go to Nigeria and bring them home.
I am urgently raising funds to cover:
• Flights and travel expenses to bring my children back from Nigeria as ordered by the court
• Legal representation to fight the unjust support claims and protect custody of my children
• Ongoing childcare and therapy for my autistic son
• Rent, basic needs, and school-related costs
• Repayment of debts I incurred while carrying the financial burden of our family alone
This legal battle is exhausting emotionally, financially, and physically. I just want to give my children the safe, stable life they deserve. Your support will help us stay housed, get the help we need, and keep fighting for justice.
Time is running out. Please know that every single donation no matter the size makes a real and urgent difference. From the bottom of my heart, thank you for standing with us.
