Recently, I walked into court alone to defend my case. Without legal representation, I left feeling overwhelmed, buried, and defeated. Anyone who has faced the legal system without an attorney understands how intimidating and unequal that experience can be. Now, after years of unpaid support, my former spouse has applied for disability benefits. Because of this, the court may determine that nothing further can be collected, effectively erasing years of financial responsibility that should have helped support our children. Without legal representation, I cannot properly challenge these rulings or protect what is rightfully owed.
**My Story**
For seven years, I have fought quietly for something that should never require a fight—basic fairness and support for my children. I am the mother of three extraordinary children, two of whom have faced significant medical challenges that required constant care, advocacy, emotional strength, and financial sacrifice. Like so many mothers, I became the one who showed up for everything—the appointments, the emergencies, the sleepless nights, and the overwhelming medical bills. During this same time, their father remained in our family home while allowing it to fall into foreclosure. Over those seven years, he paid only one year of child support and no alimony, while contributing nothing toward educational costs, medical care, dental care, vision care, or prescription expenses. Those responsibilities fell entirely on me. Today, the unpaid support and shared expenses have grown year after year.
**Why I Need Help**
I need help to retain legal representation so I can continue fighting this case and ensure the court has the full financial picture. These funds will help cover legal consultation and representation, filing and court preparation costs, and financial documentation and case review. Having an attorney would allow me to stand in court with the support and knowledge necessary to properly advocate for my children and myself.
**A Larger Purpose**
My hope is that this campaign will not only help me secure the legal support I urgently need, but will also become the beginning of something bigger—a future legal support fund for parents who must fight for fairness but lack the financial resources to do so.
