This is not an easy thing to write, but I’m reaching out for help as I face one of the most emotionally and financially exhausting battles of my life: an ongoing custody case with my ex that’s now in its second year.

Due to the sensitive nature of this situation, I’m unable to share many specific details publicly. What I can say is that this has been a long and complex case. A Guardian ad Litem has been appointed (which is a matter of public record), and we are now heading to trial in early December.

The legal process has taken a tremendous toll—not just emotionally, but financially as well. Over the last two years, legal fees have steadily piled up, and we have done everything we can to keep up. In the middle of this, I also had to undergo an unexpected medical procedure a few months ago, which added more debt that we are still working to pay down.

Now, as we prepare for trial, I’ve been quoted a $12,000 trial retainer to secure representation through the final phase. We want to do everything in our power to make sure my children are safe, heard, and protected and do what’s best for them—but Joe and I can’t do this alone anymore.
