Hello, my name is Shalonda Houston , and I am reaching out with humility and hope. I am a single mother of four amazing children (ages 19, 12, and 6-year-old twins), and I have dedicated my life to both my family and the greater community.
As many of you know, I have always believed in the power of education to transform lives. I’ve served on the Association Montessori International USA Board for Human Rights and Social Justice, and I continue to advocate for equity in education and for children to have access to meaningful, nurturing learning experiences.
Recently, I made the transition to Winn Montessori, moving from substitute teaching to pursuing my full-time teaching position. Alongside this, I have been investing in both Montessori and Texas teacher certifications, to continue doing the work I love serving children and building a brighter future.
But with these commitments has come an immense financial strain. Between caring for my children’s school needs, maintaining tuition for my certifications, and supporting my classroom, I have fallen behind on critical expenses.
Here’s the urgent breakdown of what I need help covering:
$4,329.61 in past-due rent (already passed deadline)
$1,825.00 upcoming rent payment due within 10 days
$600.00 in necessary classroom supplies for my students
$599.00 in past-due tuition for Texas teacher certification
This totals $7,353.61 that I must raise as quickly as possible, with $6,154.00 absolutely due within 10 days.
I am doing everything I can to provide for my children, continue my education, and give back to my students but right now, I cannot do this alone.
If you know me, you know that I am someone who gives back without hesitation. Today, I am asking for help with the same generosity and love I’ve tried to pour into my community over the years Every dollar you give will directly support my family’s stability and allow me to continue the work I feel called to do teaching and advocating for children. No donation is too small, and every share of this page helps more than words can say.
From the bottom of my heart, thank you for standing with me during this urgent time. Together, we can make sure that my children, my students, and my future as an educator remain secure.
With gratitude and love,
Shalonda Houston
