My name is Alaa Jamal, and I'm from Rafah, one of the most persecuted areas in the world. Before the ongoing genocide, I lived on my husband's meager income. He worked as a loader driver for a daily wage and was our family's sole source of income. Now, we have nothing. I'm a mother of two daughters, unable to provide for them because my husband lives in Gaza, and I've been stuck in Egypt without a breadwinner since April 24, 2024.
