A Miraculous Survival: Supporting My Mom’s Recovery

On Tuesday, August 19, my mom was in a catastrophic crash on Interstate 180 near Montoursville, Pennsylvania. The car went airborne nearly 100 yards before plunging 60 feet into an embankment. The impact was so violent that the engine was thrown from the vehicle, and first responders could not even identify the car at first.

Tragically, the driver did not survive. Against all odds, my mom did. She is now in intensive care at UPMC Williamsport. Her survival is nothing short of miraculous, but she faces a long and difficult recovery. Because of her severe injuries, she cannot travel by plane for at least six weeks, which means her care will remain in Pennsylvania.

This has been especially challenging because we have no family or connections in Pennsylvania, and the hospital is in a remote mountain region that makes travel and lodging complicated and costly.

I am her daughter, a teacher, and a single mom of three. Just this same week, I moved my oldest son into college, and the timing of this crisis has stretched us beyond our means. Your support will help with:
