Hi, I'm Greg Casciaro - husband, father of 2 and fitness enthusiast.
This December, I’ll be running the Phoenix Marathon for my neighbor, Devien Carrion — a U.S. Army veteran, husband, and father of three who’s been fighting B-cell lymphoma while his family has faced more than their share of hardship.
My wife, Laura, and I met Devien and his wife, Michelle, last year. In that short time, we’ve been deeply moved by their strength, kindness, and the way they continue to show up for their kids and their community — even while walking through some incredibly difficult seasons.
Over the past few years, the Carrion family has endured a series of life-changing challenges. Both Devien and Michelle have faced major health battles — from brain surgery and complications following a pulmonary embolism, to a knee injury that took Devien out of work and, most recently, his cancer diagnosis. Despite countless hospital visits, treatments, and recovery periods, they’ve stayed grounded and devoted to their three young children, showing unwavering love and resilience through it all.
That’s why I’m running 26.2 miles — to do it for Devien.
To honor his strength, support his family, and remind them they’re not in this fight alone.
My wife, Laura, is also supporting the Carrion family through her company, Sonny & The Lion. From now through the end of the year, a portion of every sale on sonnyandthelion.com will go directly to the Carrion family to help with medical expenses and household needs as they continue to heal and rebuild.
If you’re able, please consider donating here or supporting through a purchase on the Sonny & The Lion website. Every bit of help — no matter how small — makes a real difference for this incredible family.
This run is for them — one mile, one family, one act of support at a time. Thank You.
