This situation is not easily told. As you all know, my brother passed away unexpectedly 4 years ago. Leaving behind my niece, Maddie. At that time my mother was granted custody over Maddie. At that time, it was in Maddie’s best interest to remain with my mother at the house she lived in with my brother. My mother quickly succumbed to the grief of losing her son. For the next 3 years, I stepped in and decided to raise Maddie. As my mother was in a state of mind not able to care for a child or herself. Within the past year my mother has attempted to integrate back into our lives and to care for Maddie. My mother’s mental state has severally deteriorated over the course of the past 4 years. And she refuses to get the help that she needs to continue providing Maddie with a safe and healthy environment. It has been unsuccessful and there have now been threats to Maddie’s and my life. Threats so serious that legal action has taken place and custody has been temporarily removed. To have Maddie placed with me until a judge can make the final decision, I am very unfortunately short $2,500 for an attorney retainer to get the ball rolling. As most of you know and believe, I can provide a safe, loving, healthy and stable environment for Maddie, as I have been the one consistent thing in her life since my brother’s passing. I have been aligning everything in my life to be able to take my mother to court for custody. Sadly, life took unexpected turns once again and I need to act immediately.
