A Last Chance for a Better Life For Alejandro and his Mom
Donation protected
Hello, my name is Alejandro, and I’m reaching out to you with a heavy heart and a plea for help. My goal is to raise $18,000 to fund my education and help my family escape the unending cycle of trauma and poverty that has shaped our lives. This is not just a fundraiser; it’s a desperate attempt to survive and pursue a better future.
My mother, Jenny, is the strongest person I know. Her life has been a constant battle against pain and cruelty. As a child, she endured unimaginable abuse in her own home. Instead of safety, her childhood was filled with fear and suffering. She hoped to find solace in building her own family, but life was not kind to her. She married a man who turned out to be just as abusive as the environment she grew up in. My father’s words cut as deeply as his fists, and both my mother and I withstood the brunt of his rage. He destroyed our sense of security, leaving us with only each other to hold on to.
For a period of time, we lived in utter chaos. We stayed in social houses, filled with families going through similar things. We had to abandon everything we knew to move into these places, searching for stability that always seemed just out of reach. Eventually, we finally found a small apartment where we were able to catch our breath in, but the cost of rent is suffocating. My mom works tirelessly, and I do everything I can to contribute, but it’s never enough. The constant fear of losing our home hangs over us like a dark cloud. Even our beloved dog, who has been a source of unconditional love and comfort, may have to be given up because we can’t afford to keep him if we lose our home.
I’ve always believed that education could be my way out of this nightmare, a path to a better life for both my mom and I. But as an international student, I’ve been shut out of nearly all scholarship opportunities. The tuition fees are staggering, and despite working and collecting every cent we possibly can, we haven’t even managed to save a fraction of what I need to enroll in school. It feels like every door is closing, no matter how hard I try, and that I get punished even harder every time I try to do something with my life.
This fundraiser is our last hope. Your support could mean the difference between a future filled with promise and one overshadowed by despair. The $18,000 I’m hoping to raise would cover my tuition, help us stay in our home, and ensure that we don’t have to part with our dog. More than that, it would give us something we haven’t had in a very long time: hope.
If you’ve ever experienced hardship or know the pain of feeling trapped by circumstances beyond your control, I’m asking you to please consider helping us. Every donation, no matter the size, brings us closer to safety and stability. Even if you’re unable to donate, sharing our story could make all the difference.
From the depths of my heart, thank you for taking the time to read about our struggles. Your kindness and generosity could be the light at the end of a very dark tunnel for us.
With endless gratitude and hope,
Alejandro
