Parents are supposed to protect their children and keep them safe. Unfortunately, it is not so uncommon that they fail in their role. We are beyond lucky to share that we are becoming foster parents to an amazingly smart, kind, thoughtful, and fierce teenager. It can be rare to live through multiple traumas at such a young age, and keep an excitement for life filled with joy and hope.
Our foster daughter recognizes that she has had to grow up way too quickly because of the poor choices of
adults who were supposed to protect her and her childhood innocence. We want to ensure that she gets to enjoy the rest of her childhood her to her fullest. Of course she already has her sights on a phenomenal veterinary school and the intellect and drive to be accepted to any school she will apply to in the future. But today she is still 15 and wants to be 15.
We want to be able to create a space for her that is up to the very specific codes that ACS requires. We also want to be able to take her shopping to decorate her room the way she wants, buy the clothes she wants, and for her to hang out with her friends after school and not feel concerned about being able to afford a slice of pizza. Any help you can provide will be so amazing and greatly appreciated by us as we embark on this new journey!
