Dear family, friends, and community,

This GoFundMe campaign has been created to support the family and caregivers of a 14-year-old survivor, rescued in August from a horrific and abusive situation known as the "House of Horrors" in Oneida, Wisconsin. To protect the privacy of the survivor, we will not be sharing personal details, but we will provide updates on her progress as she continues her incredible journey of healing.

Despite the unimaginable trauma she has endured, her resilience and strength are truly inspiring. Her natural positivity and optimism have helped her avoid the depths of despair and depression that often accompany survivors of abuse. Surrounded by the love of her family and the extended support of those who care for her, she is gradually coming to terms with her past and looking forward to a brighter future.

Physically, she has made tremendous progress. Since her rescue, she has made remarkable strides. In just a few months, she has grown 3 inches and doubled her body weight. Her body, which had been deprived of nourishment for far too long, is beginning to heal. She has gained muscle mass and is gradually regaining the strength lost to years of neglect. With the support of physical therapy, her movements are becoming more fluid and less painful. Activities that many of us take for granted, like climbing stairs or balancing on one foot, are becoming easier for her every day.

Beyond the physical recovery, she is also working on the basics of self-care—things many of us do without thinking, like bathing, brushing her teeth, and caring for her hair. These simple tasks were denied to her for so long, and each day she grows more independent as she learns to care for herself.

The funds raised through this campaign will go directly toward supporting her continued healing process. This includes home modifications to ensure she has a safe and comfortable space, transportation to medical and therapy appointments, and everything else she needs as she continues to rebuild her life—one step at a time.
