From My Story to Theirs...

Last year, I had the opportunity to travel to Guatemala with Global Brigades, and it truly changed my life.

Going into the trip, I wanted to help. But I didn’t realize how much I would learn, or how deeply it would affect me. I saw communities where people had not seen a doctor in years. I saw families who simply didn’t have access to basic healthcare, not because they didn’t care, but because it was too expensive or too far away.

One moment that stayed with me was meeting a patient who had been diagnosed with diabetes years ago. After his insulin ran out, he had no way to get more. It was too expensive, and the nearest access point was too far from where he lived. He had been living without insulin ever since.

That moment hit me personally.

As someone who also lives with diabetes, I know that insulin isn’t optional, it’s survival. Seeing someone go without it made me realize just how different access to healthcare can be depending on where you are in the world.

That experience confirmed something for me. This is what I want to do for the rest of my life: serve others through healthcare and be part of something bigger than myself.

This year, I’ve been given another opportunity to serve, this time in Honduras. Through Global Brigades, we will be working alongside doctors, nurses, and pharmacists to provide care to communities that need it most.

Every donation will go directly toward:

Medical supplies and equipment used during clinics

Medications for patients who otherwise couldn’t afford them

Supporting the clinic operations and our stay so we can serve these communities
