A family living in Howden, Tasmania lost their daughter in tragic circumstances in the Stink Pot Bay area earlier this month.

Katie Gray, 32, passed suddenly on 6 August, leaving her parents Mark and Julie and her sister grief-stricken and trying to pick up the pieces.

Mark and Julie are in their 60s, self-employed and nearing retirement, which means they don’t have any bereavement or sick leave to cover them in their grief.

While close neighbours have been helping by cooking meals and dropping in to sit with the family, many in the community have been asking how to help the family at this time, prompting a neighbour to launch a GoFundMe page for them.

This gives locals a chance to help out, hoping that we can raise a little so Julie and Mark can take some time away from work to sit with their grief.
