‍♀️ London Marathon 2026 – Running for YMCA Supported Housing

In September, I started my role at YMCA working in Supported Housing — finding and securing properties so people who have experienced homelessness have somewhere safe to live. But it’s the wider team around me who turn those houses into homes.

What I’ve seen in such a short time has stayed with me. It’s not just about giving someone a roof over their head — it’s about giving them a chance to rebuild their life, regain confidence, and move forward.

But a house isn’t always a home.

Seeing this first-hand is what has inspired me to try and raise some money for YMCA — to help make these spaces feel more homely. Simple things like, pictures, plants bedding, kitchen essentials, and small comforts can make a huge difference to someone starting over.

❤️ Why this matters to me

I’m also a mum to my daughter Ella, who is autistic, and life can be a constant balance of work, caring, and everything in between.

Training for a marathon alongside this hasn’t been easy — early mornings, late runs, and pushing through when I’m exhausted. But the resilience I see every day in the people we support keeps me going.

‍♀️ The challenge

26.2 miles. A huge personal challenge — but nothing compared to what many people face when they don’t have a place to call home.

Please support if you can

Every donation, no matter how small, will help turn a house into a home for someone who needs it.

Thank you so much
Lucy
