️ Hi, my name is Chenique , and I’m a single mother of three beautiful girls — including my newborn baby who was born on April 4th, 2025. I’m humbly asking for help after a tragic accident turned our lives upside down.
On May 29th, while preparing to attend my oldest daughter’s elementary school graduation (a night filled with so much pride and joy), I was also sanitizing bottles on the stove for my newborn, who has been battling thrush. In the rush of getting everyone out the door, I forgot the bottles were still boiling.
When we returned home after the graduation and opened the door, thick smoke poured out of the house. My heart sank — I immediately remembered the stove. Thankfully, the fire department arrived quickly, and they shared something I will always be grateful for: the smoke had become so thick, it actually put out the fire itself. Because of that, things didn’t get even worse. I’m also incredibly thankful that none of our neighbors were affected by the fire.
My dogs ran out as soon as the door opened, escaping the smoke — and by the grace of God, my children and pets were all safe. But sadly, everything we owned was destroyed by the smoke and heat. None of it was salvageable.
We’ve received some emergency help from the Red Cross — a hotel room for one night, some clothing, hygiene items, a breast pump, baby supplies — and our church helped clear the house so the restoration team could begin their work. Still, I now face a financial burden I can’t carry alone.
Because I didn’t have renter’s insurance, I am responsible for $15,631 in repair costs to the property. I work full time (Monday through Friday, 8am–5pm) and bring home $2,800 a month after taxes. I’ve continued to pay rent on the home to avoid eviction — even though we haven’t been able to live there since the fire.
This GoFundMe is to help us:
• Pay the $15,631 property damage bill
• Replace essential items lost in the fire
• Stabilize and rebuild our lives from this heartbreaking moment
This was a terrible accident, and I accept full responsibility. I simply want to do the right thing, recover, and provide a safe and steady life for my daughters.
If you are able to give anything at all, we are truly grateful. And if you can’t donate, sharing our story is a powerful way to help too. Every donation, prayer, and act of kindness matters.
With all my heart — thank you.
With love and hope,
Chenique
❤️
