Raised by her grandmother in their family home, Nikkie — the eldest grandchild — learned early the meaning of strength, responsibility, and perseverance. Shaneta, lovingly known as Nikkie, met her true love, Reginald, at Prairie View A&M University while pursuing her dreams of becoming a nurse. Reginald — affectionately called “Big Fin” by family and friends — was a standout athlete with a big personality. He and Nikkie were inseparable. Together, they 'did' life for over a decade and welcomed three beautiful sons together. Then life changed. Reginald was diagnosed with stage four stomach cancer. In less than a year, Nikkie lost her college sweetheart.

Heartbroken — but not broken in spirit — Nikkie chose to rebuild. She relocated her family to Conroe, Texas, determined to start over. However, life tested her in unimaginable ways. She and her children experienced seasons of deep uncertainty — homelessness, nights in shelters, time spent living out of her car, and nearly a year in a hotel room where she prayed for better days. By the grace of God and the kindness of a family friend, Nikkie was able to secure an apartment where she, her mother, and her children now live. Nikkie's dream has never been just survival — it has always been stability, a home for her and her children. Now, Nikkie stands at the threshold of something life-changing: homeownership. A permanent address. A backyard for her children to play, each their own bedroom. A safe haven her children — and their children — can always return to.

Nikkie has rebuilt. She has believed when circumstances said otherwise. Today, she simply needs help covering closing costs to secure her family’s first and forever home and that's where you can help. Welcome to the village. No amount is too small. Every donation brings her one step closer to keys in her hand and years of tears turned into joy. Give what you can. Share if you can’t. Let’s not just witness resilience — let’s reward it. Let’s place the keys of a forever home into Nikkie’s hands... together.
