Meet Miles and Luke. Together we can change their lives.
Miles and Luke are sweet, loving, silly, playful, strong-willed, musical, adventurous, and brave. They are also suffering from seizures, low bone density, frequent fractures, intellectual disability, motor dysfunction and muscle weakness due to a genetic condition called Snyder-Robinson Syndrome (SRS).
My name is Kim and this fundraiser is for my friend Nancy who has two handsome boys that need special accommodations.
About Nancy, Miles and Luke
Nancy is raising two little boys with SRS, a rare disabling genetic syndrome. She is struggling to make ends meet and give her boys the best life possible. Her boys are incapable of walking independently and as they grow it is becoming increasingly difficult for Nancy to carry her sons around (currently 7yrs and 9 yrs old). Finding an affordable, accessible home has been challenging at best. Stairs increase the risk of falling and injury to both child and parent. Small spaces mean no room to maneuver wheelchairs and adaptive devices. Renting means having to move frequently (Nancy has had to move every year for the past three years) and each move increases the chances for injury (there already was an incident requiring an airlift to a major hospital) as the family navigates new terrain. Additionally, moving out of their current school districts means fighting for services that the children may or may not get.
Time is running out
Last spring, as her eldest son graduated from a hybrid stroller to his first wheelchair, she moved with her boys to an affordable, accessible ranch-style home that meets their needs perfectly. Unfortunately, her lease will soon end, and she has been informed that the house will go on the market. Nancy desperately wants to hold on to the home she has created for her boys, but is financially unable to do so without your help. To help my friend Nancy secure this handicapped- accessible home for Miles and Luke, please donate. Any amount to help her reach this goal is appreciated!
