I am sharing this to support a young mother named Jalecia who has been working hard to care for her children and move forward after a challenging season.
Jalecia is 29 years old and the mother of two young boys, ages five and four. She is employed, has childcare in place, has transportation, and is actively doing what she can to provide for her children.
Her children are stable, doing well in school, and thriving. It is very important to Jalecia to keep her boys in their current school, where they are comfortable and supported. Her job is located just three city blocks from their school, which allows her to remain consistent and present for her children.
Leading up until November, Jalecia experienced a series of challenges that caused her to fall on hard times.
During that period, she found herself going through the motions of trying to hold everything together while continuing to work and care for her children. That is when some of her belongings were placed in storage as she worked to navigate her circumstances.
More recently, Jalecia also experienced the loss of her father, who she shared was her best friend. His passing is not the reason she fell on hard times, but it has added emotional weight during an already difficult season. She also does not currently have a relationship with her mother and has not for over five years, which has left her without family support during this time.
About a two week period before everything unfolded, I noticed Jalecia while visiting my storage unit. At that moment, God showed me that something was going on, though I did not yet have full understanding.
When I intentionally returned to the storage unit to retrieve items from my own storage, I walked through the door, turned the corner, and saw Jalecia there again with her boys, gathering clothes and preparing what they needed for their next day. That was the moment I knew without question that God intended for us to help. From that point, everything shifted.
Before this fundraiser was created, there was already an outpouring of support from people who reached out. Those early donations helped cover her hotel stay, groceries, and gas, and we are truly thankful for everyone who stepped in to help meet those immediate needs.
In addition, a close friend, Ms. Shelley, showed incredible kindness by opening her home to Jalecia and her boys for Christmas. She also ensured they were provided with essential personal care items such as soap, lotion, toothpaste, and other necessities, including items Jalecia herself needed. We are deeply grateful for the care and compassion that has already been shown.
The purpose of this fundraiser is to move forward toward permanent housing. The goal is to help Jalecia secure a stable place to live so she can transition into handling rent on her own and maintain it moving forward.
Efforts are currently underway to locate housing options close to her children’s school and her place of employment, as maintaining that stability is extremely important for her family.
There are also conversations taking place regarding a small rental home that may be a good fit and manageable for her long term. This GoFundMe has been created so that when the right permanent housing opportunity becomes available, we are able to move forward without delay.
Funds raised will be used toward housing related needs such as rent, advance utility payments, and other costs associated with securing and maintaining a home. Any remaining support will help ensure she has stability during this transition so she can live comfortably, care for her children, and continue building forward.
For those who may not know, this situation was first shared on my Facebook page, and that post is still available. As the response grew and more people wanted to help, this GoFundMe was created as a safe and secure place for anyone who feels led to contribute toward helping Jalecia and her family move into permanent housing.
This fundraiser is being handled with care, transparency, and respect for the privacy and dignity of Jalecia and her children. I will be sharing updates all the way through, including follow ups as progress is made. Updates may include photos or videos of gratitude and milestones, with the identities and faces of the children protected at all times.
Despite everything she has faced, Jalecia’s boys are joyful, loving, respectful, and full of life. They are a pleasure to be around, and it has been a blessing to witness their resilience and happiness during this season. We are grateful that others are also pouring into them and creating moments of joy and normalcy for them.
We thank God for every person who chooses to support in any way. Whether you donate, share this story, pray for Jalecia and her family, or offer encouragement, every act of kindness matters. We are deeply grateful for every seed planted into her life and the lives of her boys.
