After 20 Years of Saving Dogs, I Need Help Saving My Home

For 20 years, I gave my life and my home to dogs who had nowhere else to go. I founded Amigos de Los Animales and opened my home and my heart to thousands of animals in need. I studied proper sheltering so that I could do the right thing by each dog.

Now, after all these years, the dogs are moving to a new home—and I am facing life alone, trying to rebuild my home.

My house is 71 years old and desperately needs repairs: critically dangerous electrical circuits, water leaks pushing the water bill sky high, a ruined water pump for two 400-gallon cisterns for $700, broken fans all over, fix falling outdoor ceilings, painting within and without and many urgent repairs.

After giving everything I had to the rescue, I simply do not have the money to make my home safe and livable again.

I never expected to be asking for help. For most of my life, I was the one helping others.

Today, I am asking my friends, family, and the people who have supported the dogs I loved so deeply: Please help me now.
