Recently , We've seen on the news a huge movement of people , a caravan of immigrants coming from Honduras. Seeing this broke my heart. Seeing so many people risking their lives, their children and their families to come to the United States; All in search of a better life. I knew that if these people had good living conditions and adequate housing they wouldn't have to leave their home country .

I knew I had to do something about it, but I didn't know what. Then , I thought that back in Honduras there are many people living in extreme poverty who need help.
The first person who came to my mind was Doña Maria Castellanos she 's a widow who lives in Tegucigalpa, Honduras; she lives in a makeshift home . She needs help building her home out of materials like brick and concrete; materials that would make her home resistant to the winds and storms.

Water gets in her house when it rains.

Wind enters through the open spaces , making the house really cold during the winter.
She needs help building an indoor kitchen.
Doña Maria would like to raise $10,000 to build her home. She also needs help building a passageway in her community. Every time she walks to get home she puts her life at risk. Falling down from that narrow passageway could involve a serious injury or loosing her life.

Any additional earnings will be used to impact other families in the community who live in similar conditions.
Doña Maria would be eternally grateful to have a decent place she can call home . Feeling safe when walking to get home would improve her quality of life. We would like to raise the money as soon as possible so we can start building a brick house and the passageway.
I'm starting this small community service project to help 1 family living in extreme poverty. If we're successful , I would like to start a more formal and organized community service project to improve the housing of at least 2 or 3 families living in extreme poverty in Honduras every year. The families would be immensely blessed , since they don't have the means to buy or rent a house. This would enable people to live in better conditions in their home country, rather than making a dangerous journey to seek better conditions elsewhere.

* My name is Gracia Velasquez, I'm 28 years old. I'm from Tegucigalpa , Honduras but live in Provo, Utah. I'm Maria's friend and I've created this campaign in an attempt to help her since she has no social media.
* We've asked $10,000 to build a small brick house, and to build a passageway and cover labor expenses.
