A Hike for Hope and Healing in Uganda
Donation protected
Hello, my name is Dr. Kathleen Lamontagne. I am a practicing dentist in my home state of New Hampshire. Beginning July 6th I will be attempting a ten day hiking challenge to raise money for a medical clinic and dental mission I helped start in Nyamuha village in a remote area of Uganda.
Nyamuha is home to my college friend Eddie Wamala, founder of the Bugumiro Foundation (https://bugumirouganda.org/). The people of this village live in extreme poverty. Eddie began fulfilling his dream of improving the lives of the people by establishing a Children's Home and Education Center. He asked me to help address the complete lack of healthcare in the region. We constructed a six room medical clinic which opened full time in March 2024. We also partnered with a mobile dental outreach team, Hope Smiles, to provide biannual emergency and preventative care, as well as oral hygiene education. In August, my father Dr. Roger Lamontagne and I will be returning to Uganda to work alongside Hope Smiles for our third dental mission trip.
The hiking challenge involves hiking all 48 of NH's 4,000 ft mountains in a continuous route known as the White Mountain Direttissima. It is about 250 miles and 80,000 feet of elevation. All donations will be used for the continuation of the medical/dental mission. Our plan is to eventually grow the clinic into a self-sustained health center. Your financial contribution will help to bring hope and healing to the Ugandan people!
Thank you and God bless you!
